Successful virtual extra care housing event 22 September 2021

Kent County Council were invited to the Kent Housing Group meeting to deliver a workshop regarding Extra Care Housing in Kent. Commissioners gave an overview of the current supply in Kent, and how the schemes are fulfilling the requirement to support older people to live in their own homes. An overview on the analysis that has recently taken place to inform the Market Position Statement for Accommodation in Kent was also presented. The presentation also included feedback provided by customers who currently live in the schemes, plus people who may require this type of accommodation in the future. Three breakout rooms were facilitated to discuss different areas, which were ‘Market Conditions and Demand’, ‘Marketing Extra Care’ and ‘Strategy and Policy’. Lively discussions took place in all three rooms and identified a range of themes and opportunities for collaboration with developing a succinct and clear understanding of what Extra Care Housing is for Kent. The outcome of the workshop identified future opportunities that could be achieved between the KHG and KCC. Further details of the workshop including the presentation and synopsis of the breakout rooms can be found here. Extra Care – The Challenges and Opportunities – Kent Housing Group.
