Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act consultation, KHG response

KHG

The government was consulting on a new strategy and seeking views on how the government will implement the measures of the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 and inform the drafting of regulations and guidance.  It will also inform work by the Department for Work and Pensions on linking licensing to entitlement to claim Housing Benefit in England and any opportunities to link to existing frameworks in Scotland and Wales. It also includes work to define care, support and supervision in Housing Benefit regulations for Great Britain.

The consultation text and questions were available online here Supported Housing regulation: consultation – GOV.UK

Members from the Private sector housing group, Exempt Accommodation working group and Kent Housing Options subgroup (KHOG) met to agree a KHG response to the consultation questions set.  This group included those working in private sector housing for local authorities, the Supported Housing Improvement Project, supported housing provider and a housing benefit service.

The KHG consultation response is available to download below and was submitted before the closing date of 15th May 2025.
