About the Role:

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate Team Leader to join our newly formed Homeless Pathway team, to help support and embed our drive to end the cycle of homelessness into our service delivery and ensure a safe and compassionate offer to customers.

The new Homeless Pathway team are embedded within the Housing and Inclusion Team at Trinity, our Community Hub in Maidstone Town Centre, to provide an empathic and front facing service to those accessing services from our communities.

This role will involve managing a team of staff responsible for managing all temporary accommodation placements, direct lets, private sector move on and our own discretionary placements into and out of the housing pathway. To also have oversight of the whole accommodation pathway and to be able to maximise resources in the best possible manner including seeking private rented options.

The role also involves line managing support officers who specialise in dealing with complex clients and domestic abuse so your own knowledge of these areas must be excellent.

This is a full time position on a permanent contract. The postholder will need a flexible approach to working times to meet the demands of the job – some evening, weekend and early morning working may be required and the post holder will also be required to cover the on-call out of hours rota, approx. 4 time a year.

 About You:

 The post holder needs to be a motivated individual with the ability to work in a changing and dynamic environment with minimal supervision. Our Homeless Pathway Team is high pressured with competing priorities, so we are looking for someone who thrives on a challenge.

You will have excellent working knowledge of homelessness legislation and thorough understanding of Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) especially in relation to suitability and final offers of accommodation.

The successful candidate must have thorough experience of managing staff in the homeless realm, be able to juggle multiple pressures and love a challenge.

You must be passionate about ending the cycle of homelessness and have previous experience of working with complex households to ensure good and robust outcomes.

You will have excellent communication skills, be community focussed, and understand the local area and the needs of the residents.

You must have the ability to manage your own and the teams’ workload with minimal supervision, and have the skills to ensure the team are meeting their Key Performance Indicators and other funding targets.
