In early November this year DCLG announced the Controlling Migration Fund, which is designed to support local areas facing pressures linked to recent immigration.

The Fund will be available over the 4 years from 2016-17 to 2019-20, and is in 2 parts:

  • a local service impacts part of £100 million, to help English local authorities and their communities experiencing high and unexpected volumes of immigration to ease pressures on local services
  • an enforcement part worth £40 million to direct enforcement action against people in the UK illegally in order to reduce the pressure on local areas

On 18th January Kamran Quadri, from the DCLG Migration and Syria Team will be in Kent to talk to colleagues about this fund, and opportunities for Kent with this fund.

This session is aimed at Local Authority Housing Head of Service, I would ask that you confirm attendance by 12 Noon on Friday 16th December 2016.  If a Head of Service is unable to attend please do send along an appropriate substitute, there will be KCC colleagues in attendance too.  Please confirm to Rebecca.smith@ashford.gov.uk
