Homelessness
Government Policy
In 2005 the Government published Sustainable Communities - Settled Homes/Changed Lives which sets out the Government's current plans for tackling homelessness. Effective prevention remains at the heart of this and in order to acheive this the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has set a number of national targets which the Local Authorities in Devon are currently working towards:
• 25% reduction in homeless acceptances by 2010;
• 50% reduction in statutory homeless acceptances by 2015;
• End the use of bed and breakfast accommodation for 16/17 year olds by 2010;
